Traveling through time and space… on this CurrentCast.

Ever touch something older than the sun? Well, take a dip in the ocean, and you can say you have!

According to astronomist Edwin Bergin, a researcher at the University of Michigan, some of the water on earth was originally interstellar ice that predates our solar system.

Bergin: “That tells you that all planetary systems are provided with abundant water at their birth, which has very interesting implications when you think about the fact that water is the liquid of life on our planet.”

This research not only supports the potential of life on other planets. It underscores how little is known about water here at home – for example, how much is trapped deep inside the earth.
